Guard your Heart

Proverbs 4:23

“Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.”

Here are some of the stuff that we need guard our heart from everyday: jealousy, strife, bitterness, pain, offense and the list can go on and on.

Those who have peace and maintain a drama free life are those who protect or guard their heart. They do not allow others to bring negative vibes and they establish boundaries. Our heart must be guarded at all times. Everything that comes out of our mouths , first started with a thought and settled into our heart. Watch your words, they are usually an overflow of your heart.

We must protect our heart from negative things. Ships do not sink while floating or sailing in water. They only sink when water gets on the inside of the ship. When negative things come our way, do not let it get on the inside of us. It’s okay to get angry but it’s important we do not allow the anger to stay and take up residence. Keep it on the outside, never on the inside.

When bad things happen in spite of the good things you are doing, keep a guard on what you allow your heart to bring on the inside. It’s easy to get offended, but don’t allow the offense to enter into your heart.

Don’t rehearse or replay the negative chatter. Negative chatter originates with negative and idle minds. Refuse over and over again to dwell or think about it. Negative chatter usually fades away when it reaches an ear that refuses to participate in it.

God will vindicate you. Put God on the throne of your heart and not your enemies or haters. Just assume everyone loves you. Whatever God promises you, keep it on the inside.

Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.

Amazing Grace will be my theme throughout eternity.
