Have you ever felt like giving up? This feeling comes pretty often to those who are serious of reaching somewhere they have never been before. There are folks that give up as soon as they get discouraged, then there are those folks who persevere in spite of discouragement.
Giving up comes easy because of either distractions or discouragement…distraction is something that takes your attention away from what you were supposed to be doing. Discouragement is a loss of enthusiasm and confidence. Both comes as easy as counting from one to three. Will it be easy to keep going in spite of the distractions or discouragement? Absolutely NOT. But then we must ask ourselves, 1.”Did I really come this far to give up now?” 2.”Do I have enough time remaining in my life to quit just like that?”
If your answer is a resounding ‘No’ to any of the questions above, then it’s time to refocus and remember why you got started.
Discipline is doing what you know needs to be done even if you don’t want to do it. Being motivated doesn’t come easy nor does it last, but we have to get up every day and push ourselves out of giving up. A toddler walking for the first time stumbles and falls zillions of times, but if she gives up walking because of the falls, chances are she will never walk again. Life is paved with pitfalls, hiccups, discouragement, disappointments and lots of distractions, but there’s still no good reason to quit. Every single effort to get back up again pulls you closer to reaching your goals.
Don’t remind yourself how tired and weak you feel this morning. Take another step, unless you faint or die, keep going. Don’t wait until you’ve reached your goal to be proud of yourself, be proud of yourself that you got started and stay focus. Don’t let distractions or discouragement step in front of you, keep them in the back of you that’s where they belong anyways. If you are absolutely serious and determined to reach your destiny, you will persevere to get there.
You feel sad? That’s not permanent, so keep going. You feel discouraged? That feeling is temporary, so keep going. Never make permanent decisions on temporary feelings. Feelings go and come, so don’t let it dictate your choices today.
The sun will come out tomorrow. You can’t have a rainbow without a little rain. Don’t believe every thing you think. Don’t make your decisions on other people’s opinions of you. Don’t give up because your dream looks so far away.
We are allowed to scream and to cry, but we are not allowed to give up. Keep going because of the legacy/story you want to leave behind. Let the next generation know it wasn’t easy, but it was worth it. You only fail when you stop trying.
