Every year you celebrate a birthday or wedding anniversary…. it simply means you were blessed to see another year – so plan to make each year ahead a good year. As good or bad the years behind you have been – you cannot move ahead to greater things if you keep looking back.
The only time anyone should look back, is to see how far they have come. There are experiences, events, and memories of our lives that we must be prepared to let go … because we cannot change anything about it. If you need to apologize – apologize. If you need to forgive – forgive. If your offender never apologized – forgive them anyway. We must choose not to be held in bondage by others or to become hostages to things we cannot change.
Don’t allow anyone to pull you into any form (jokes or serious conversations) of rehearsing or bringing back your past life’s experiences. You will always know when you’re on the right track – when you become uninterested in looking back.
Living positively allows you to excitedly embrace tomorrow without wasting time reaching back to yesterday. Be firm in your decision not to be drawn back into the past. Forgive. Apologize. Move on. Resist anything that’s in opposition to you moving forward to happiness, love, peace, and enjoyment of a healthy life. Learn to let things go as quickly as things come into your thoughts.
When your past comes knocking on your door, send Jesus to answer it. Don’t stay up all night rehearsing your mistakes OR what people have said or done.
