“I also observed under the sun that the race doesn’t always go to the swift, nor the battle to the mighty, nor food to the wise, nor wealth to the intelligent, nor favor to the knowledgeable, because accidents can happen to anyone.
12 People most definitely don’t know when their time will come. Like fish tragically caught in a net or like birds trapped in a snare, so are human beings caught in a time of tragedy that suddenly falls to them.”(Ecclesiastes 9:11-12 CEB)
During the Olympic Games I watched with intent the Track and Field events, and I did have my favorites who I assumed will win the gold medal, but then as fate would have it – the runner fell or pulled a muscle and someone else not as swift won the race. The race doesn’t always go to the swift. What’s my point: It’s wise not to trust in your own strength with whatever you undertake, as accidents and misfortune both can happen. Work hard and be diligent in what you are doing, but trusting God for good success is wise.
The battle is not always won by the mighty or the stronger one as in the case of David and Goliath, but it’s really God who gives the victory. The victory is determined by God, so having God as your warrior is a sure sign of victory.
A person can work hard and long hours doing everything right for the job, yet never reap the benefits. Someone else less qualified than you and not as efficient as you – gets the coveted position. You can be very brilliant yet success seems to be avoiding you …Ask God to be your partner and include Him in your plans, then you will have good success. You can be confident in God’s directing and ordering your life – being fully aware that He has the power to open doors for great opportunities or to close doors He doesn’t want you to walk through. But whatever is the outcome – you can rest in peace knowing that God has your best interest at heart.
Accidents and misfortunes can happen any day to the wealthy, the powerful CEOs, the perfect family, the loving couples, the healthy children, and the bravest person – but the person who trusts and depends on God will never be ashamed.
None of us knows when our time will come – as fish caught in a net, or a bird caught in a trap – so we as human beings can suddenly face tragedy without any warning signs. It’s a good thing to stay humble and trust in God for the best. Life is never certain for anyone of us, but knowing God makes it less stressful and easier to cope with, than a life without God.
Anyone who goes out in their own strength to fight an enemy – will fall. Even if your faith is as tiny as a mustard seed , or you can’t pray long and powerful prayers … but you are totally depending on God’s grace and strength – you can be victorious.
Luck does not control our lives – God is always in control of everything. Do your best and continue to trust God’s will for your life.
