Mistakes and failures are part of life. If you are brave enough to own up to your mistakes, you have passed the test of pride – pride never owned up to its mistakes. Humans do fail and make bad choices, but admitting your mistakes and failures gives you the strength and courage to get it right the next time around. It’s not a mistake to make a mistake – every mistake should teach us something if we have the courage to admit it.
God allows us to go through mistakes and failures (storms) in our lives with the sole purpose of using them as qualifications to help others. Don’t despise the storms in your life because one day you will meet people along your way out – waiting for someone to hold their hands to take them to safety.
I used to be the kind of person who would be devastated if I failed at something that I had to do. If I assumed that I will fail at it, I will not even try. If I did try and fail, then my mistakes and failures will keep me up all night long, restless in bed as the voice recorder played over and over again in my head. I used to be very hard on myself as I wanted always to be good at the things I did. I never once considered that my mistakes and failures would become my greatest teachers making me into the person that I am today.
Now, I am having fun being who I was originally created to be. I’ve learnt to accept my mistakes and failures as my tuition paid in full, giving me the courage to become a bold and confident person. I delete negative thoughts about myself as quickly as they come to me … I’ve disabled my negative voice recorder by allowing Jesus access to my current thoughts instilling positive words over my life.
I respect my limits for things I want to accomplish within a certain deadline. If other important things come up that require my immediate attention, I take care of those immediate things….and then I know I will have to make time – perhaps later in the stillness of the night to get my previous tasks done. It’s not the load that breaks you down, it’s the way you carry it.
Satan brings: Condemnation, Regret, Shame and Guilt, these are all his attributes. He’s our accuser and his job is to hold us as prisoners to our mistakes and failures with the hope we would give up on our dreams and our happiness.
God forgives, restores, brings us back to right standing with Him, and uses our mistakes and failures as tools to help others. God is not surprised by the things we do or don’t do. He knew all about it before we were even born, and made provision for us – whereby we call Him “Abba Father.”
Everybody else’s opinions of your mistakes and failures should not become your distraction. God’s magnificent plan for our lives is waiting to be fully revealed as we step into the race, and finish the course.
Life is very short and Insecurity is a waste of valuable time.
Mistakes and failures produce endurance, endurance produces character, and character produces hope, and hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us.
