“ It’s impossible to please God apart from faith. And why? Because anyone who wants to approach God must believe both that he exists and that he cares enough to respond to those who seek him.
By faith, Noah built a ship in the middle of dry land. He was warned about something he couldn’t see, and acted on what he was told.
The result? His family was saved. His act of faith drew a sharp line between the evil of the unbelieving world and the rightness of the believing world. As a result, Noah became intimate with God.” Hebrews 11:5-7 MSG
There are many times the real test of our faith hinges on our assumptions that there’s no way God could part our Red Sea. It’s false thinking to assume that we should only trust God depending our our views of the situation on hand. We must ask ourselves- Who is it difficult for?
Very often we are caught comparing our strength with God’s strength. It’s important to remind ourselves that if anything is easy in our lives then we don’t need God to intervene – He has already equipped us to do it. If you are capable of walking, it’s unwise to sit in bed and pray about getting up to walk. That’s easy for you to do. So really, what God is encouraging us to do, is to bring those difficult situations to Him.
God is not depending on your strength to take care of anything you bring to Him. He’s not even interested whether you have all the facts correct. Absolutely NOT! God is known for doing a complete work on us once we seek His help.
He knows our limitations – He has made an open invitation to bring all those achy, painful, irresolvable stuff to Him. Is anything too hard for the God who created the universe and calls the stars all by names? I beg for you to give God a little more credit because He holds the whole world including you and I in the palm of His hands.
All God requires of us is to believe that He exists and that He cares enough to respond to our prayers. Our part is simply to bring everything to God, believe that He can and will perfect it all. Responding in total obedience to whatever He says to us, brings the blessings.
Sometimes, God may tell us to do something, but then we are reluctant to obey Him either because of pride – God, why must I be the first to say -sorry? Or because we think He’s unreasonable – Go sell everything you have and give it to the poor. Like really God! …So we may choose not to obey God rather than just simply follow His directions. Therefore, we have no one else to blame for our unanswered prayers.
Whenever we choose to obey God regardless of how we feel about His instructions, we will always come out as champions of faith. Faith in God doesn’t rationalize God’s commands. Faith in God says, “Whatever you say Lord, I will do.” The beautiful end to this legacy of walking by faith is – God knows what He’s asking us to do will be dependant ONLY on our obedience and faith in Him. That’s where the real test lies. This level of obedience and trusting God releases unmerited favor that super exceeds our expectations.
It’s a choice we individually have to make. It’s guaranteed to reap a lifetime of blessings. Waking by faith and obeying God requires a certain level of trust and commitment, but it will definitely be worth it.
