What’s Your Excuse?

“God has distributed to each of you a measure of faith.”

‭Romans‬ ‭12:3‬ ‭NET‬‬

The verse above says, God has distributed to each of us a measure of faith –  from day one of our birth. Do you think maybe God gave you a smaller portion of faith than He gave to anyone else?  I don’t think so, because God is no respecter of persons. The equal measure of faith each one of us were given ONLY becomes more effective when we accept Jesus as our Lord and Saviour. So, it goes something like this – to bake a cake, we need flour, butter, milk, eggs etc. = FAITH. Then, when you ADD baking soda combined with ALL the ingredients it causes the baked goods to rise = Jesus as our Lord and Saviour  👉🏾 the baking soda effect.

👉🏾 Faith + Acceptance of Jesus Christ creates a positive reaction to struggles, sicknesses, failure, and pain = causing GROWTH to take place in our lives. 👈🏾

Look again at the picture with several planes all taking off at the same time. The only difference is, they all are not heading to the same destination. One may be going on a short trip lasting only 1 hour, and one may be going for a longer timeframe of over 24 hours. But, they are ALL scheduled to leave the same time.

Let’s apply this theory to our lifestyle: Our lives are pretty much the same as the picture of the planes. We all have been given a measure of faith, some of us will make our journey without God’s help, while the rest may go with God. Some will survive the journey, some may quit before reaching the destination. But, we all had the same starting point. No one was at a disadvantage, but we were all given the option to go with GOD or without Him. It was a personal decision with no pressure selling.

What keeps a person back from going after their dreams? Fear!

  • Fear of people
  • Fear of rejection
  • Fear of failure
  • Fear of criticism
  • Fear of imperfection
  • Fear of threat
  • Fear of change etc

Note: The best memories in life are always the times when you resisted the spirit of fear, and stepped forward nervously when your name was called, and managed to perform each and every time as a champion. Why? Isaiah 40:29 – 31 says, God gives strength to the weary, and to those who lacks strength He increases power.

Reality Check Point: It’s really okay to be scared. Why? Because being scared allows us to rely on God for strength, and courage. God comes under with wings of eagles when we least expect it … the moment we step out of our comfort zone. He comes right along to empower His Children. At the first victory chant from the onlookers – God is guaranteed to get the glory because we know if it wasn’t for GOD showing up when our name was called, failure was lurking right outside the door. We would have walked away like a defeated and wounded victim. God is always the plus sign in our lives. He’s like the baking soda effect in the cake ingredients.

The best thing you can do for yourself in life is, doing the things that will help YOU to become a better person. The only way you can help anyone else is when you’ve got YOU together. Don’t be hard on yourself in the meanwhile. It’s all a process. Encourage yourself, accept the experiences you go through, refuse to become bitter, and allow your experiences to become your core values as you aspire to be the best YOU !

👗My experience: If I waited for perfection, I would have NEVER written one word. I’ve learnt so much about myself from people who didn’t see my strengths or potential. I was disappointed many times by people who I stood with holding their hands, offering words of encouragement when needed, supported them in their most lonely times ….and when I thought they would do the same for me – BAM 💥 they were no where to be found. I found myself moving on without their support. I realized that not everyone has the same heart as you. And, we must be good with that, otherwise, you will end up quitting and becoming bitter, and vulnerable. Remember, we are in a race to the finished line. No one has time to accept the leading role of a victimized person. We aren’t on earth to live forever and forever. So what’s your excuse?

The funny thing about working towards a goal is … you would love to have the support of the villagers- but, YOU must be contented and be at peace with yourself to go on without them. When it’s YOUR dream, you become the leading star, so be prepared to be your own cheerleader. I knew I was matured – when I had to fight through those bad days and memories, took a moment to breathe,  and apply a dash of FAITH that everything will work out for the best. No matter what life throws at you, keep on loving, forgive quickly, and keep on writing your next chapter. Don’t stop writing because someone didn’t recognize your potential. Put one foot in front of the other EVEN when it hurts. Sounds of victory ALWAYS comes AFTER the battles.

So, what’s your excuse? Whose keeping you back? Remember, YOU are not a tree  – so be prepared to uproot yourself, and move to where the soil is right for your growth. Check yourself out of the excuse box. There is really NO box anyway  📦 !
