It’s Important to Own Your Dream 👌🏾

When you have a dream that motivates and inspires you enough to pursue it – it’s important to remember from day one  – you have signed off as the sole proprietor of your dream. You are the only one who will maintain your vision. The buck stops at you. You have signed on to the risk, failure, profits, and benefits.

Note to self: Don’t go into pursuing your dream expecting your family, spouse, or friends to buy into your dream. It’s your dream, so don’t become upset over lack of support. It’s your dream – not theirs.

When you go to the store to purchase a pair of 👠  for yourself, do you wish  for everyone to try them on before purchasing them? I hope NOT! So, it’s your dream, don’t wait for any approval or support. Build your dream one brick at a time.

Discouragement is a thief of happiness and dreams. You should not get discouraged, or be disappointed, or hold back on pursuing your dream because of the lack of support. If it is of any comfort  – be assured that people are observing your strides, and secretly following your progress more than you may know. If you get offended or become discouraged by the lack of support – you are then giving your power/dream away.

We all feel fearful when we have bought into something new for the first time. Remember, nothing is really certain but death. When I started blogging, I needed to muster every ounce of self-confidence to keep on writing. No one warned me that I will not get the support that I was expecting, but I kept on writing because this was MY dream. There were countless times my faith wobbled in fear of failure, but those were the times I had the most views from countries where I had no family, friends, or loved ones. So, I kept on writing because my faithful God sent those who needed the word I was sharing.

This is why it’s important that we own our dreams. When we stand in confidence, God comes along and multiplies your investments. Our part is to live it, own it, share it, and allow God to send the right audience your way. Refuse to give in to fear, and thoughts of failure. Why? Because you’re giving away your power and your faith to persons who don’t own your dream. Note: There’s no victory without a battle.

Writers hours are not regular working hours. Ninety-nine percent of my writings takes place from midnight to three o’clock in the morning. I call it – ‘my wait to hear from God moments’. I’m mostly inspired in the stillness of the night.

When you’re committed to your dream, and people see you doing it over and over again, those who didn’t believe in you will either become your cheerleaders, or they will be your imitators. If it’s your dream, live your life to the fullest.

I’m sharing my story because I know what it is to have a dream, and not get the support of those who you value the most in your circle of life. Become your own cheerleader – It’s not their dream, it’s your dream – so go out on a limb and fly. You will not fall, God will catch you, He knows you’re depending on His Grace.

An accomplishment that I’m incredibly excited, and grateful to God for – my stats readings revealed:

I believe in what I do. I’ve bought into my dream. I’ve conquered many defeating times. I wrote blogs when I was exhausted, falling asleep with my fingers pressing against the buttons 😴 I wrote blogs in the maternity waiting room as I await the arrival of my granddaughter 👶🏽 I wrote on planes while everyone was asleep ✈️ I wrote blogs in my dreams, literally jumping out of my sleep to find myself typing away (fingers moving) on an invisible computer 😳. I wrote blogs with my husband calling me into bed at 3 am in the morning – pleading with him that I was wrapping up my thoughts 😉

I owned my dream and bought into it. It’s my investment. I love what I do. I’m my biggest fan. I’m my biggest supporter. I believe my experiences/stories will continue to make a difference in someone else’s life. I enjoy being a ‘lifeline’ when I post in the wee hours of the morning, and to see 7 or more people  who read it before I could even get into bed. For you I do this. Thank you 😊

Let’s live our life to fulfill our mandate. We were created with purpose and destiny. Only what’s done for Christ will last.
