“Children are a gift from the Lord, a reward from a mother’s womb.” Psalms 127:3 ERV
Next to our own soul, I consider our children the next high priority that God has entrusted to our keeping. One day God will hold ALL parents accountable for the way we trained our offspring and those little ewe lambs who grew up in our households. We will be called upon to give an account to Our Commander in Chief.
If we as caregivers/parents fail to properly guide our children – our society is doomed for failure. Neglected and unsupervised children instead of becoming great citizens they end up being a shame and a reproach to the mother and to society.
Boundaries are important in life. Without boundaries we will have no clarity of what is allowed or expected. This can leave all of us confused and uncertain of what’s appropriate behavior. If we as adults are confused or haven’t yet determined the boundary lines in relationship, expected behaviors, and house rules – chances are …we’re heading for trouble.
“Point your kids in the right direction— when they’re old they won’t be lost.” Proverbs 22:6 MSG
When kids are young – everything they do is considered ‘cute’. Songs they sing can be considered ‘funny’ but when the kids get older the lyrics are no longer ‘cute and funny’ as they were when they were just toddlers … the stuff we tolerated yesterday has a great possibility to either cause grief or pride in the future.
The world we live in – scorn and scuff at toddlers and young kids growing up with Biblical Principles. But unfortunately by time those same kids reach into puberty and onwards, those same folks cry out to the church for help.
To every child born and to every adult – there are ONLY two roads in Life to choose from:
- Road that leads to misery and death
- Road that leads to life and happiness
A child left up to himself will always choose the evil way. It’s our human nature. We were all shaped inquity. Sin comes easily so we must insist on establishing boundaries with spoken rules from the Word of God. Kids and adults push against the boundaries lines, so it’s important to stick with the laws of God as our navigator.
The Bible says:
“Punishment and discipline can make children wise,
but children who are never corrected will bring shame to their mother.” Proverbs 29:15 ERV
“Correct your children whenever they are wrong.
Then you will always be proud of them.
They will never make you ashamed.” Proverbs 29:17 ERV
“Happy is the man that hath his quiver full of them:
they shall not be ashamed,
but they shall speak with the enemies in the gate.” Psalms 127:5 KJV
“These proverbs will make even those without education smart.
They will teach young people what they need to know and how to use what they have learned.
Even the wise could become wiser by listening to these proverbs.
They will gain understanding and learn to solve difficult problems.
These sayings will help you understand proverbs, stories with hidden meanings, words of the wise, and other difficult sayings.
Knowledge begins with fear and respect for the Lord, but stubborn fools hate wisdom and refuse to learn.” Proverbs 1:4-7 ERV
DON’T LEAVE YOUR KIDS in the hands of wolves/world …
