Your greatest struggles in life usually makes the best chapters in your life. All pain has purpose. All mess has a message. All crisis and chaos has a Christ.
“Meanwhile, the moment we get tired in the waiting, God’s Spirit is right alongside helping us along. If we don’t know how or what to pray, it doesn’t matter. He does our praying in and for us, making prayer out of our wordless sighs, our aching groans. He knows us far better than we know ourselves, knows our pregnant condition, and keeps us present before God. That’s why we can be so sure that every detail in our lives of love for God is worked into something good.” Romans 8:26-28 MSG
It always takes an impossible situation to reveal the power of God.
If our lives were easy — nobody will need God or even think about God. Life will be all good just as it was yesterday and the day before. Some people live their lives as if life will always be good. They never pause for one second to appreciate the ability to do simple things until they can’t do those simple things any longer.
Here are a few every day Scenarios:
- You woke up, stood up on your feet, dressed, had breakfast, grabbed your keys and left for work. Perfect start to the day. No, you didn’t stop your car at the intersection because you were running late for the Board Meeting. ✅
- You woke up, couldn’t get off the bed because your limbs were weak and you were experiencing chest pain. Hmmmm….Panic and fear fills your mind. Nothing on your scheduled day is important anymore. After all, there’s nothing you can do about your current situation. Everything on your agenda isn’t priority anymore.
- Didn’t wake up in the bed you fell asleep in last night, but instead you woke up in a hospital bed where you’re being told that you had a seizure during the night and a CTscan shows a large growth on the left side of your brain. Reality check. I need God. I need people to pray for me. Work can wait.
If our lives are easy, we wouldn’t need God. God becomes null and void in our lives. Everything else take prevalence. But when bad things happen, everybody stops whatever they’re doing and cries out to God. Our personal world stops spinning and God gets our attention.
We all have days when life doesn’t seem to be going our way. We all have been tempted to lose hope. Struggles in life cannot be avoided.
I don’t know of one person who prays and asks God for a difficult life. I will be stunned if I ever hear someone praying – “Dear gracious God, today I want you to make my life miserable. Please torment me beyond my capacity.” That kind of prayer sure will create a disturbing reaction from everyone listening in.
••••• Okay that was just me overreacting.
Let me get back on track here: In our walk with God, we must remember …the greater the battle is, is the more opportunities God has to show off His mighty acts. In the final leg of the journey – God always will be glorified.
No one enjoys facing a Valley of Dead Bones in our lives. But sometimes God places us exactly where we do not want to go. There are beautiful miracles that often take place right in the valley, deep inside the rocky places of our lives.
Situations that once appeared dead are usually the ones that stretches and increases our faith in God. We must choose to wait on God. Certainly, Dead situations causes tons of anxiety and panic, but it takes an impossible situation for God to be glorified.
When God sets you down into the middle of a valley of dead, dry situations – work with God. Pray. Praise. Listen. Obey.
Here is a kind of conversation that God and I would sometimes have:
God: June, can these bones/difficult situations live again?
Me: God, only you know.
God: I want you to predict that these dead situations can live again because I the Lord has spoken into it.
Me: I went ahead and spoke into my dry bones as I was commanded. And as I spoke there was a sudden rattling sound. The dry bones/dead situations began to make some noise. A little noise but enough noise to prove that they’re coming back to life. That God will be glorified!

When God sets you down in the middle of a valley of dry and dead bones — what He’s trying to teach us is far more important than we are looking at.
The lesson is, God can breathe life and speak over any and all dead situations that we’ve been fervently praying about. If only we will believe.
God wants you and I: To
call forth the FINAL OUTCOME of our prayers based on His promises to us. God is standing by to perform His spoken Word. There’s nothing too far removed from God that He cannot bring it back to you. Hold on. Keep believing.
The valley experience is what helps us to appreciate the mountain tops victory.
I like to call it “the less we forget moments”.
God is up to something bigger than you and I — He cannot show us the whole staircase less we ruin our own destiny.
He’s working behind the scenes and it’s really going to be okay.
