It was a scary day (June19,2017) for the Eastern Caribbean as news spread that a Tropical Storm will bring torrential rain and windy conditions. The media did an awesome job all day informing the public of the emergency numbers and what to do before the storm hits.
My balcony view from my home is overlooking the ocean – and as I sat on my balcony I observed small ships and boats moving further out into the ocean. Of course I thought about the safety of both the passengers and the ships – and boom …. I ran towards my computer to start my blog.
- Ships are built to withstand storms
- They have technology onboard to monitor the storms
- The captain check in with different stations to gather weather information and advisories
- Ships can sail around the bad weather and the Captain makes the call whether to proceed
- THE SAFEST PLACE FOR A SHIP DURING A STORM IS OUT AT SEA
Even heading out to sea the ship isn’t just floating aimlessly – it’s being carefully maneuvered through the choppy waters. The ship must have its front end pointing into the waves to quickly navigate through the rough waters. Rather than just getting pushed around by the waves and wind – the captain steers it clear away from the pending dangers of the storm.
Now for my home run: When we are faced with a storm in our home, marriage, relationship, career, finances, and health — DON’T LET WHATEVER is happening in and around you get inside of you and sink you into a depression.
“Get out of bed…Wake up. Put your face in the sunlight. GOD’s bright glory has risen on you and his sunrise breaks over you…” Isaiah 60:1 MSG
When God created us, He actually made us strong enough to withstand the storms of life that will come to us.
“He is not afraid of receiving bad news; his faith is strong, and he trusts in the Lord.” Psalm 112:7 GNT
We have God’s Promises hidden in His Word to monitor the strength of the storm we find ourselves in.
“The Lord will give you victory over them, and you are to treat them exactly as I have told you. Be determined and confident. Do not be afraid of them. Your God, the Lord himself, will be with you. He will not fail you or abandon you.” Deuteronomy 31:5-6 GNT
There’s great wisdom in the counsel of many where we can gather information and obtain advise to guide us through the storm.
“Get all the advice you can, and you will succeed; without it you will fail.” Proverbs 15:22 GNB
We can maneuver around the storms in our lives and wait for Captain Jesus to make the call to proceed.
“Remember the Lord in everything you do, and he will show you the right way.” Proverbs 3:6 GNT
Don’t be afraid of the storm — we were built to be the light in the world.
“Be determined and confident. Do not be afraid of them. Your God, the Lord himself, will be with you. He will not fail you or abandon you.”
Deuteronomy 31:6 GNT
God is our firm anchor.
