What about tomorrow? How can we be so overconfident to assume that tomorrow’s agendas lies solely in our own hands? We spend countless hours meticulously plotting and planning our very hectic daily schedules never once pausing to ask God’s blessings on our goals, our dreams and those burdensome stuff we carry from one day to the next.
Have we ever wondered that if God took the time to write a command in the bible…then there’s a reason.
“Here’s what I want you to do: Find a quiet, secluded place so you won’t be tempted to role-play before God.
Just be there as simply and honestly as you can manage.
The focus will shift from you to God, and you will begin to sense his grace.”
Matthew 6:6 MSG
God does everything to protect us from experiencing anxiety and stress … then due to our own willful disobedience we wonder where is God when we are faced with moments of anxiety and fear.
Worrying about tomorrow cannot add any time to our lives or change the outcome of any situation we may have to deal with.
Have you ever stop to think that if God who is quite capable of taking care of the birds that fly around our heads; the beautiful flowers we purchase in the flower shop ….that He is more than able to do exceedingly and abundantly above all that we may ask or think? Don’t you think that God will attend to you, take pride in you, and do his best for you?
God loves us so much that really all He wants us to do is – to relax and to trust in His ability to daily sustain us. When we go after the things of God — He freely gives us everything that pertains to life. The opposite is to become slaves to life fighting to survive in a hostile society.
God admonishes us not to worry about missing out on anything. We will find that all our everyday human concerns will be met by our faithful Heavenly Father.
So what about tomorrow? Worrying does not take away any of the concerns we have today, or tomorrow. It steals our peace today, robs us of our happiness tomorrow, and it opens up the door leading to fear, anxiety and stress.
God said —each day brings its own trouble.
“Give your entire attention to what God is doing right now, and don’t get worked up about what may or may not happen tomorrow.
God will help you deal with whatever hard things come up when the time comes.”
Matthew 6:34 MSG
I can’t tell you that I know about tomorrow or the day after or next month or the end of the year BUT I’m confident of who is holding my hands. I just live from day to day trusting in God’s care. Many things about tomorrow I don’t seem to understand BUT I know who holds tomorrow and I know who holds my hands.
My faith in God doesn’t mean at all that my life is perfect ….but it means that I have the Presence of God watching over me … and that settles it for me.
