Being a Christian doesn’t change the very complicated things you deal with each and everyday — but… it changes HOW you deal with those nuisances in life.
Monitoring or taking control over what I would like to call ‘YOUR personal AIRSPACE’ works like magic. It redirects those very tricky scenarios from PERMANENTLY (that word is important) leaving you feeling emotionally drained.
There’s a saying:
Sometimes we encounter different kinds of relationships that oftentimes leaves us feeling used, abused, drained and bitter. Then the sympathetic side of us quickly moves into high gear of self pity.
Scenario 1:
- Parenting
This is hard work. Sometimes it drains every drop of strength from your body. Kids many times forget the sacrifices you’ve made for them to grow up and to become well balanced and fully equipped adults. They have adopted a spirit of entitlement void of empathy and compassion towards anyone who thinks differently from them.
The Bible says: “Can a woman forget her own baby and not love the child she bore? Isaiah 49:15 GNB
Certainly as parents we all love our children … but once our kids have grown into adulthood – you must decide NOT to set yourselves on fire to maintain their happiness.
Children will always be children regardless of their ages. But it’s important to attach your water hoses to the limits of maintaining their happiness.
- Living in communities has the potential at times to leave you feeling victimized and abused — the Bible says, “If someone has done you wrong, do not repay him with a wrong. Try to do what everyone considers to be good. Do everything possible on your part to live in peace with everybody.”
Romans 12:17-18 GNB
Our goal is to strive for peace with everybody.
If someone has wronged you – consider WAYS how you can handle the situation without either one of you feeling victimized. Perhaps, setting boundaries is one perfect ways to protect your personal airspace.
- Countless times our hearts and our behaviour don’t always line up perfectly. But, we must purpose in our heart not to lower our behaviour to match our hurting hearts.
This calls for us to have full restrain from acting out of revenge.
The Bible says, “Who can understand the human heart? There is nothing else so deceitful; it is too sick to be healed. I, the LORD, search human minds and test human hearts. I treat each one according to the way he lives, according to what he does.””
Jeremiah 17:9-10 GNB
For God — heart matters are THE HEART OF THE MATTER.
God LOOKS at the heart to draw His conclusion. Tell your heart to always do what’s best for your conscience and your character.
Your happiness should not be left into the hands of others.
The only way to find personal happiness is to LOVE whatever YOU do. When you place your head on your pillow at nights – your conscience should be clear from all forms of bitterness and regret.
African Proverbs says, “Keep your HEAD and HEART going in the right direction and you will have NO worry about your FEET.”
I conclude with my final Bible verse:
“The LORD alone is God; God alone is our defence. This God is my strong refuge; he makes my pathway safe. He makes me sure-footed as a deer; he keeps me safe on the mountains.
O LORD, you protect me and save me; your help has made me great. You have kept me from being captured, and I have never fallen.”
2 Samuel 22:32-34, 36-37 GNB
But you must FORGIVE quickly. No diaries. No credit notes. No remorse. Live. Laugh. Love.
We forgive often, as we too need to be forgiven often. Truly thankful to GOD for HIS Amazing Grace.
Thank you for these daily reminders.
Blessings, Junie ❤️
