IF you have ever experienced childhood trauma like neglect, emotional, physical and sexual abuse.... chances are you clearly understand how tough it is to heal. Some people bury their memories by ignoring them …some become depressed and suffer great anxiety …while some have reoccurring flashbacks to the times and memories of the past.
Childhood painful memories are never easy to erase from your memories.
I can still vividly recall a painful memory from my childhood, and as often as the memory reoccurs – I MUST decide within myself that I’m not going to let it get me sucked into the ugly quicksand of bitterness and anger.
It is mentally tough to accept the fact that offenders may never accept responsibility for their actions nor will they ever be held accountable for them.
Sometimes getting closure from childhood trauma can be very tricky and painful.
Carrying an ugly burden from the past CAN weigh you down – BUT …. it can also MAKE YOU STRONGER!
But, the CHOICE always remains yours to let it go.
What you do WITH the hurt is far more important than the hurt itself. Challenge yourself to rise above the situation.
It’s important to FEEL the hurt …BUT it’s more important to MOVE ON!
Building an Ark of Protection:
**** Share it with someone.
“And I tell you more: whenever two of you on earth agree about anything you pray for, it will be done for you by my Father in heaven.
For where two or three come together in my name, I am there with them.” Matthew 18:19-20 GNT
**** FORGIVENESS has more to do with you than the person who has wronged you. Forgiveness sets you free from remembering the details of the pain that we as human beings try so hard not to forget.
Forgiveness Works even when the offender has never apologized.
“Then Peter (put your name here) came to Jesus and ask, “Lord, how many times shall I forgive my brother or sister who sins against me? Up to seven times?” “Jesus answered, “I tell you, not seven times, but seventy-seven times.” Matthew 18: 21-22 NIV
**** MAKE A DECISION to let it go. Lay it aside and run with determination the dream that is set before you:
“As for us, we have this large crowd of witnesses around us.
So then, let us rid ourselves of everything that gets in the way, and of the sin which holds on to us so tightly,
And let us run with determination the race that lies before us.” Hebrews 12:1 GNT
**** START a NEW CHAPTER – YOU are NOT a victim. You can’t start the next chapter of your life if you keep going over the pain of yesterday:
“Watch for the new thing I am going to do.
It is happening already—you can see it now!
I will make a road through the wilderness and give you streams of water there.” Isaiah 43:19 GNT
**** FOCUS on YOUR NEXT LEVEL.
“So I run straight toward the goal in order to win the prize, which is God’s call through Christ Jesus to the life above.
All of us who are spiritually mature should have this same attitude.
But if some of you have a different attitude, God will make this clear to you.” Philippians 3:14-15 GNT
“Do not complain …The Judge is near, ready to appear.” James 5:9 GNT
