Friendship goes beyond distance, religion, race, culture, location and time.
Approximately four months ago I met this beautiful spirited woman through my online blog. She reached out to me … and since then our worlds have become so much closer via our online blogs, emails, voice and text messages.
Our friendship doesn’t mean we speak to each other daily … but when we do speak – it’s like we have been friends for all our lives. She is a Muslim living in Islamabad and I am a Christian living in Toronto. There’s definitely an age gap, but she’s comfortable enough to share her heart with me … and I’m way to happy to lend her my ear.
She’s brilliant, and beautiful inside and out. When I told her I was going to write a blog about our friendship, she was way too excited and sent me pictures of herself to include in my blog.
Our friendship crosses our language, culture, race, time, religion and location. We are friends.
In a world where race and religion clashes and the hostile voices around us can sometimes get pretty scary ….. my God silently stands behind us watching on with love.
When my friend feels weak or disappointed, she knows that she can depend on me to pray ‘FOR’ her.
May the comfort and love of our Heavenly Father continues to inspire us to reach out to others who may not look like us, or speak like us, or share the same faith as us.
Jesus said, “This is my command: Love one another the way I loved you.
This is the very best way to love.
Put your life on the line for your friends.
You are my friends when you do the things I command you.”
