RESENTMENT is to feel angry because you have been forced to accept someone or something that you do not like.
There’s no way to avoid a person you RESENT.
You can throw yourself a divorce party … but guess who will be the guest of honor? Your ex…. the jokes, conversations, heated debates, the drinks, the music etc…
If you want to be miserable and unhappy, hold on tight to resentment.
Many times we miss pleasant opportunities and new beginnings simply because we are trying to get even with someone who has hurt our feelings.
Over the years, I’ve come to appreciate the power of having short term memory for the wrongs others may have done INDIRECTLY or DIRECTLY.
To move on – we must make a conscious effort to forgive. Forgive – so you can walk free.
Life goes on ….TIME/YEARS WAIT ON NO ONE.
As an adult, I find it very helpful to write hurtful stuff with a pencil. I can erase stuff written in pencil. Then, I can rewrite my NEW STORYLINE in ink the way I choose to, using words that motivate me to rise above the dust.
We all have a choice whether we will FORGIVE the wrongs done to us and choose only to REMEMBER the good.
I love the quote below:
“WRITE YOUR SAD TIMES IN THE SAND, and YOUR GOOD TIMES IN STONE.” George Bernard Shaw
How to live with a CHAMPION mindset:
Genesis 50: 19-21 CEB
“But Joseph said to them, “Don’t be afraid, Am I God?
You planned something bad for me, but God produced something good from it, in order to save the lives of many, just as he is doing today.
Now don’t be afraid. I will take care of you and your children.”
So he put them at ease and spoke reassuringly to them.”
Solid, practical advice. May we, this and every day, live more nearly as we pray. Amen.
