Addicted Until Afflicted

A thought is: An idea or opinion made up by THINKING, or occurring SUDDENLY in the mind.

We have had that SUDDEN thought or an opinion… and sat down thinking about it for hours, days, weeks and years.

One thought has the potential to produce a business, a murder, a marriage, a divorce or any other thing legal or illegal.

There’s nothing in life that has the power to either make or break us …like a single thought.

We are addicted to our thoughts, and that’s a fact.

If there were vows with our thoughts it may sound like this:

I take thee dear Thought to be my partner, to have and to hold, from this day forward, for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish, till death do us part.”

Someone upsets us…we chew or stew over it longer than it was worth. We are addicted until we become afflicted in our mind and body.

A relationship starts with a thought.

Jealousy begins with one thought.

Hatred begins with a thought.

Doubt starts with a thought.

Winning starts with a thought.

Anxiety starts with a thought.

Anger starts with a thought.

A smile starts with a thought.

Cheating starts with a thought.

Our thoughts are like a pocket calculator or a camera …the more you put in… is the more it keeps adding up.

There’s nothing more troubling than our thoughts. We are products of our thoughts. Our thoughts become our reality.

It may be a great idea to spend some time upgrading our thoughts…and deleting all useless and unproductive chatter.

In the words of Lester Lewis… maybe we can begin each day with this oldie:

“Everytime I read my Bible I feel alright

Everytime I read my Bible I feel so nice

Everytime I read my Bible I get a little knowledge

Everytime I read my Bible I get to know Jesus Christ.”

Finally, because God doesn’t make junks I cannot begin to wrap my mind around the loving thoughts God has towards me. He doesn’t make junks so I feel very confident that He has my back, my front and my sides.

I wake up and go to bed in peace knowing that God holds my entire world in His hands…so I ought to be good, real good.

Our thoughts don’t have to be troubling when there’s a God in Heaven who knows our past, our present and our future.

No one can destroy the plans God has for you and for me. When we please the LORD, He makes even our enemies to be at peace with us.

  1. Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.

  2. A though gives rise to an action. An action gives rise to habit formation. Habits give rise to character formation and character ultimately leads to destiny. It really all begins with a thought.
You are absolutely correct. We need to take care of it from the word go.
