Loneliness is sadness because a person has no friends or company. There’s a difference between being alone and loneliness. I enjoy being alone at times but I don’t feel lonely during that time. It’s my choice not to be bothered with distractions when I’m working on an assignment.
However, a lonely person feels abandoned or sad and longs to have a friend. Loneliness is when you don’t feel you have anyone who really cares about you.
Temporary feelings are not permanent they are fleeting, they change depending on thoughts, emotions, and feelings. A person can be happy, sad, angry, dancing, crying — all in just 24 hours. If this sounds bizarre to you, consider yourself fortunate, but there are many other folks who put on a smile … but live in low spirits and unstable emotions each and every day.
Everybody feels lonely sometimes … but this should never a permanent state of feeling abandoned, misunderstood, or simply longing for friendship.
Spending extended time alone can take a toll on your mental health and on your physical well-being …we were born to have relationships. It was God who said it was not good for us to be alone.
Loneliness can strike anyone, anywhere, anytime, so we must be aware of our feelings of sadness. You can be in a room crowded with people and still feel alone. God places the lonely in families. To be a friend you must show yourself friendly. Find your tribe and treat them well.
Because our feelings are temporary, it’s our responsibility not to overrate our feelings. I’m no expert on dealing with loneliness and temporary feelings, but I’ve had some ‘drive by’ experiences that has taught me how dangerous it is to be locked up and be held hostage to these two dangers.
It’s easy to end up at this crossroad and simply miss taking the right exit. It’s scary getting lost at the crossroad if you don’t have proper guidance.
Stop! Look! Listen! should be our motto and goal when we are at the crossroads. Over processed negative thoughts lead to loneliness, and loneliness leads to suicidal thoughts.
Stop overthinking! Look for positive reinforcements and coaches. Listen to those who are have a track record of survival techniques. Our choices will make us happy, or sad, successful, or full of hatred. Our thoughts can trap us into believing that everyone is against us and there’s no good reason why we should go on.
God doesn’t want us to make these fleeting moments permanent. He doesn’t want us to be held hostage to a chapter that will end with these words, “And she died on the Mountain of Loneliness and Temporary Feelings”. No way! God doesn’t want us to feel trapped with painful memories…there is a way out.
The relationship that failed; the betrayal; the past that keeps haunting you; the curse that passes on from one generation to the other; the parent you can’t forgive; the wedding you didn’t get invited to; the funeral you missed because of family issues; the employer who denied you a promotion; the child that has been nothing short of being ungrateful; or whatever it was or is … God loves to work in ALL things call “IMPOSSIBLE’.
We deprive ourselves of finding permanent HAPPINESS when we exclude God out of our lives and think we can handle it on our own.
If our feelings of loneliness, and off and on feelings about people, situations, and life’s issues are driving our decisions … we will keep getting into accidents. One day we will crash.
Ecclesiastes 3:11 says, “He has set the right time for everything. He has given us a desire to know the future, but never gives us the satisfaction of fully understanding what he does.”
God reveals the next steps when we choose to walk in a relationship with Him. God is not in and ‘on and off’ relationship with anyone. He speaks only to those who choose to be a faithful and loyal partner.
