Don’t Forget

It’s more important than anything else … to walk in wisdom and understanding. God’s plans are always to do His children good and His thoughts towards us are more than we can think or imagine.

When you are down …. God is always up to something larger than life…trust the process. And when you are up …. God expects us to give back a portion of what He has so graciously blessed us with.

Today, I want to thank God for my villagers – family members, school mates, church family, friends and even my medical practitioners … all who have stood with me, for me, and behind me. I am who I am because of my circle.

It was approximately twenty-eight years ago my husband, our kids and I migrated to Toronto, Canada from Trinidad ( a small island in the Caribbean). Wise people know that no one reaches anywhere in life by themselves. It takes many individuals rallying together for our wins … so, I thank God for our village.

It was a huge decision 28 years ago to uproot our family from a solid foundation in Trinidad to go to a strange land … BUT GOD was about to bring us into a better land, and I thank God for His wisdom, understanding , and His covering as we walked in obedience.

Our girls all had many opportunities in life to succeed with the sacrifices that we made for them to win. God put brooks and rivers, springs and lakes, streams out of the hills and through the valleys in our pathways. There was always food on the table and a roof over our head just as God had promised. He was and remains faithful …and He will do it again and again …TODAY, TOMORROW, and in the FUTURE.

As parents, we thank God for satisfying our hearts with good things and for keeping our family healthy day by day. We never went cold or naked and His loving kindness CONTINUES to be a testimony to my children and their children. God keeps His Word to those who are faithful to His commandments.

WE ARE NOT A PERFECT FAMILY, neither were ALL our days perfect…BUT GOD! My kids cannot say that God didn’t keep His side of the deal at the end of each season. He came through time after time as the seasons change (physically, emotionally and mentally, and SPIRITUALLY).

The girls are all grown up now and they have their own families. My husband and I are now back as it was in the beginning … Just The Two of Us. Empty Nest syndrome is as real as it can get …. but the Bible says, “ Make sure you don’t forget God. Make sure that when you eat and are satisfied, build pleasant houses and settle in, see your herds and flocks flourish and more and more money come in, watch your standard of living going up and up—make sure you don’t become so full of yourself and your things that you forget God, your God…the God who gave you water gushing from hard rock; something your ancestors had never heard of, in order to give you a taste of the hard life, to test you so that you would be prepared to live well in the days ahead of you.” Deuteronomy 8:9-11 MSG

So now that our lives are our own with no children at home… God has called us back to our birth land (Trinidad) to give back. This year is now four years that my husband has been on an assignment heading up Acropolis Medical Centre giving leadership to the brainchild of our dearly beloved Pastor C. Quamina. The Acropolis Medical Centre is a first class, elegant, community-based medical facility located along the slope of San Fernando Hill, Trinidad. Their services range from Dialysis, Oncology, Dentistry, Emergency Services, Imaging and Diagnostics and have their very own On-Site Laboratory. It proudly serves the people of Trinidad and Tobago and its neighboring countries.

The blessing of the LORD adds joy and NO sorrow. When we are at home in Canada, we are under the spiritual leadership of a powerful mighty woman of God, Dr. Pat Francis. Both my husband and I are actively involved giving back to our Canadian church heartily and with great joy. Our church family is our safety net as we are encouraged, and loved in countless ways. God has put folks around us who love and care for us in a world that’s hostile and lonely. We thank God for our Christian church family in both countries.

Finally, “And when your brother or son or daughter, or even your dear wife or lifelong friend, comes to you in secret and whispers, “Let’s go and worship some other gods” (gods that you know nothing about, neither you nor your ancestors, the gods of the peoples around you near and far, from one end of the Earth to the other), don’t go along with him; shut your ears. Don’t feel sorry for him and don’t make excuses for him.” Deuteronomy 13:6-8 MSG

One day spent with God beats a thousand days spent on a beach. I rather be in the House of God than to be alone in a cold, and hostile world.

    1. Thank you my dear Sister for holding my hands from the beginning to this day. We appreciate your love and support and encouragement to us as a family. May your seed be mighty on the earth and may they call you blessed 🙏🏾
