Goshen is a place of increase, a place of plenty, a place of grace, a place of favor and a place of comfort. It was first mentioned when Joseph told his brothers to bring their father and settle there because of a severe famine. Sometimes our most difficult experience is what God uses to motivate us to move on. We so often get stuck moping and grumbling about the difficulties of life. Could it be time to approach the throne of grace with confidence and find grace to help us in our time of need?
When Joseph saw his father and brothers coming, he got on his chariot and went out to meet them. The Bible says, he fell on his father’s neck and wept a very long time. Goshen can be seen as a place of new beginnings. New things are about to happen. The future looks bright and exciting your family.
The LORD was with Joseph. He settled his family in the best of the land and provided and supplied his father, his brothers and all their households with an abundance of food during the days of the famine.
Is your dream big enough to provide for those who have abused and misused you?
Living in Goshen makes you rich and adds no sorrow. You see your enemy hungry, you go buy them lunch. You see them thirsty, you give them a drink. Your generosity will surprise them with goodness. Don’t let evil get the best of you, get the best of evil by doing good.
ATTENTION PLEASE: There’s NO praying for ‘karma’ when you live in Goshen. Who have time for that? It’s celebration time! The Thanksgiving Dinner is being served. In with the NEW …out with the bad.
Goshen is a place of moving past those who have cause you your greatest pain and sending chariots to meet them. A place where we will walk in obedience to God and eat of the good of the land. God puts a mark of distinction between YOU and those who come against you. It’s a place where we can stand on the promises of God. God says, “And I will bless those who bless you, and the one who curses you I will curse. And in you all the families of the earth will be blessed.” Genesis 12:3
“Only in the land of Goshen, where the sons of Israel were, there was no hail.” Exodus 9:26 This so powerful and reassuring to know that the LORD intends to do us good all the days of our life. Nothing will come near you to hurt you. You will live in safety and be at peace.
What a privilege it is to know that the LORD has a place right beside Him where we can stand on a Rock, and where He covers us with His hand. Exodus 33:20-24. There shall no evil befall you, neither shall any misfortune come close to you.
Joseph became successful in the darkest, gloomiest place of his life. And so can you and I. Living in Goshen means you must be ready to say goodbye to your old dairies, secret notes, recorded messages, and anything that reminds you of bad times … so long bye bye.
Time to write again. This time with a pen and not with your pain. You are no longer a slave to your past. You have taken up residence in Goshen. Your neighbors are cool like you. They don’t peek over your wall but they join you for tea parties.
Let’s keep those dreams alive. You are in Goshen … it’s a place where there’s an abundance of love, laughter, healing, and new memories …. it’s the new accepted way of thinking and behaving.
Great devotional, Junie! Time to move to and live in the land of Goshen. Place of new beginnings!
Blessings! π π π π
