A Different Kind of Thinking

“For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry. Because you have rejected the word of the LORD, he has also rejected you from being king.” 1 Samuel 15:23

Rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft … hmm…that sounds like a very, very serious offense. A rebellious person likes to challenge authority and break the rules whenever it pleases them. So, the scripture is saying, when a person challenges the authority of God and act in defiance – it’s a blatant sin as witchcraft.

Stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry … hmm … worth pressing the pause button. A stubborn person is one who refuses to change their mind about their behaviors that may or may not be admirable. So, someone who refuses to change their behavior that’s not admirable is someone who has shown preference in worshiping idols.

Therefore, a rebellious and stubborn person who refuses to fall into alignment with God’s authority removes themselves from His covering and has shown their preference to idol worshiping. And if that wasn’t ugly enough that individual who chose to worship false gods through rebellion has put their whole family under a curse. Can you see how generational sins and curses are passed on? Rebellion and Stubbornness are like witchcraft and idolatry.

I am just a messenger carrying a message so please save the fight for between yourself and God.

How tragic can this be to lose your relationship with God because you chose to do it your way which is usually a selfish way? Your entire household must now live with the consequences for one person’s sin of rebellion and stubbornness. To anyone who knows to do right and doesn’t – it is a sin for them.

You may have experienced win after win in times past because of your obedience to God’s Word and your dependence on Him. And maybe you were unaware how far you had drifted from the things of God until you had a rude awakening that your winnings were over.

What a tragedy to deal with a loss in the presence of your cloud of witnesses. Rebellion and stubbornness are serious crimes when bought before God.

When you have been on a winning streak in certain areas you can become puffed up tricking you into believing that life will always be great without a full commitment to God’s principles.

One person’s actions can ruin a whole family’s destiny. When you get to the top be careful of a little rebellion and a little stubbornness – it’s the same as witchcraft to God.

A family is only as strong as its weakest member. A little rebellion filters through and destroys a whole lot of innocent lives and it brings deep regrets. Opposing God is far worse than fooling around in the occult. God simply requires full obedience.

There’s no excuse for disobedience. It’s easy to detect the root of rebellion and stubbornness. First you refuse to admit disobedience by defending your behavior. If you profess to know God, then walk in the Spirit of God. God takes no delight in being mocked.

Satan has repackaged witchcraft to fit our modern-day Christian appetites. Galatians 6:7 NLT says, “Don’t be mislead – you cannot mock the justice of God. You will always harvest what you plant.”
