It’s Monday and maybe some of you woke up feeling overwhelmed with the weight of guilt, loneliness, and heart-wrenching issues that has held you captive day after day, week after week, and year after year. I pray every human being who woke up today quits overthinking. We can turn our pain into power if only we stop overthinking.
The devil has his best days when he can get you to overthink which usually makes everything worse than it actually is. Overthinking destroys your happiness and it escalates into uncontrolled mood swings. How unfortunate it is to begin any given day with yesterday’s issues. God promises not to give us more than we can carry.
What makes the load heavy is when we take yesterday’s troubles pile them on to the things to do today list while overthinking about tomorrow’s problems. Did I just confuse you? Yes? Well that is exactly how our brain feels when we place it under pressure thinking about yesterday, today, and tomorrow – then blaming God for not listening to our prayers.
Sometimes, something’s got to give – just do not let it be you but let it be your way of thinking. If you choose to avoid interacting with everyday life out of fear – you will miss the opportunity of seeing God working in your challenges. Your challenges uncover the secret places where you need to see God at work in your life.
When you decide to let God be God on your bad days be willing to hand over everything that is weighing you down. To get from where you are to where you want to be – many times you have to drag yourself across the field of unhappiness, up the hill where freedom reigns and over the wall of opportunity to see that God was with you all along.
To get pass those things that repeatedly trip you up and push you back into your overthinking cave you must know you have the power to choose what to accept and what to let go. Tune out the negativity that repeatedly stumps your growth and exercise your will power and stay on a healthy diet of good thoughts.
Sir Winston Churchill said, ‘When I look back on all these worries, I remember the story of the old man who said on his deathbed that he had had a lot of trouble in his life, most of which had never happened!’
Somethings that deprive us of happiness and sends us into overthinking mode never happens. The load will be too heavy for us if we carry yesterday’s burden over today, and then add the burden of tomorrow before it is even here. Every day, you can commit to God your fears, worries and anxieties. It makes all the difference.
Psalms 27: 13-14 MSG “I’m sure now I’ll see God’s goodness in the exuberant earth. Stay with God! Take heart. Don’t quit. I’ll say it again – Stay with God.”
Proverbs 31:25 MSG “She is clothed with strength and dignity; she can laugh at the days to come.”
You are strong and you are enough. You don’t need to overthink because everything is going to work out and it will be okay as long as God is included in your affairs. You were built to last.
