Grown Up Conversations – Day ONE – Let’s keep it Real – Video

It’s MONDAY! It’s Grown Up Conversations! Welcome to the place where great conversations get started.

Today’s topic: What’s in Your TRUNK?

An adult is a person who has reached the age of 18 and is considered to be independent, self-sufficient, and responsible. Someone at age 18 would have already lived 6,570 days with 157,680 hours trying to believe that everything will make sense one day.

But as we get older and wiser, we will reach the crossroad where we must choose what we need to keep and what we need to leave behind. Getting rid of junk is a major step forward.

The longer we live is the more junk we have in our trunk (life). There’s no way we can possibly try to move on in a healthy direction if we don’t get rid of the past years junk.

I spotted a funny quote once – “To get rid of unwanted junk on your moving day … put it in an Amazon box and leave it on the porch.” Honestly, it’s no fun carrying around junk in your trunk – leave it behind for those who collect junk.

JUNK ITEMS FOUND IN OUR TRUNK:

Bitterness, rage, anger, disagreement, slander, hatred, false report, hateful witness, and a bitter tongue.

GET RID OF UNWANTED JUNK:

Ephesians 4:31 GET RID of all BIITERNESS, RAGE and ANGER, DISAGREEMENT and SLANDER, along with EVERY KIND of HATRED.

Exodus 23:1 DO NOT SPREAD a FALSE REPORT. DO NOT JOIN the wicked by being a HATEFUL witness.

James 3:5 In the same way, the TONGUE is a small part of the body, but it boasts of great things. CONSIDER how SMALL a SPARK sets a great forest ablaze

Proverbs 26:20 WITHOUT WOOD, a fire goes out; WITHOUT GOSSIP, a conflict ceases.

Psalms 15:3 SPEAK TRUTHFULLY to his neighbor, for we are MEMBERS of ONE ANOTHER.

Matthew 7:12 Therefore ALL THINGS  whatsoever YOU would that men SHOULD DO to you, DO even so to them.

Rules of Engagement for storing stuff in YOUR TRUNK:

  1. Stop hoarding with the intention of ‘just in case’
  2. If things are worth restoring, then fix it
  3. Make peace with your past
  4. Keep your inner circle of friends snug not fickle
  5. Do not compromise your personal relationship with God

Prayer Time:

Father, I have some junk in my trunk that I need to get rid of. Help me to get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, disagreement, and slander, along with every type of hatred. Give me the ability to trust you with all my heart. Let my intentions and choices of things to store in my trunk be pleasing to You. When I am lost and confused can You speak loudly so I can hear Your voice above the noise all around me. Give me wisdom to declutter my life removing junk from my trunk. In Jesus Name I pray, Amen
