Wednesday Morning in October – Grown Up Conversations

Words vs Actions

A person’s actions will tell you everything you need to know about them. When Jesus told his disciples after his Last Supper with them, “If you love me, keep my commandments” – He was asking them to demonstrate their loyalty to him by doing what he told them to do, which included keeping His commandments.

I think it was and still is extremely easy for Jesus to know who is loyal to Him by their actions.

There’s a clear message in the way someone treats you versus what they say to you. You just need to pay attention. I hope we can all see despite what our hearts want us to feel. A person can still love you and think about you all the time but if they are not doing anything about it or even going out of their way to show you – then it’s only words.

John 3:16 says, “For God loved the world in this way: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life.”

God proved His love by offering up His only Son so no one will go to Hell. God’s action reveals, beyond a doubt, that He loves us. He asked us to prove our love by our actions. The all-wise God in all His wisdom still give every man a free-will to make their own choices and to choose their own destiny.

Quote: “Don’t fall in love with someone who says the right things. Fall in love with someone who does the right things.”

Sadly, actions DO speak louder than words, BUT words sometimes get more attention. Don’t fall for words – fall for actions. A person’s actions will tell you everything you need to know about them.

Quote: “Words may lie. but actions always speak the truth.

Matthew 7:20 “So then, by their fruit you will recognize them.” Just as you can identify a tree by its fruit, so you can identify people by their actions.

  1. You may say, “I’m not able.” God says, “My Grace is sufficient.”
  2. You may say, “I’m always flustered and overthinking.” God says, “Cast your cares on me.”
  3. You may say, “I feel lonely.” God says. “I will never leave you or forsake you.”
  4. You may say, “I just can’t see how things will work out.” God says, “I will direct your path.”
  5. You may say, “It’s just isn’t worth it.” God says, “It will be worth it.”

Quotes from The Love bites:

  • “I love you to the point that words aren’t enough.”
  • “I didn’t choose you, my heart did.”

That’s LOVE in action.

Finally, never lose your integrity or lower your self-esteem to keep anyone happy. You become like the five people you spend the most time with. Choose carefully. PRAYER TIME: Heavenly Father, I don’t understand how everything is going to work out, but I trust Your will for my life. I don’t know the way, but I have full confidence that You will show me the right path to walk in.  Let me not love in words but with actions and in truth.  In Jesus
