Never Act out of Desperation
I have been asked many times why I chose the title ‘Grown Up Conversations.’ My response is usually quite simply – When I became an adult, I put away childish behaviors. Grown Up Conversations was written to highlight and share my approach to life issues namely – When life gives you lemons make something resembling lemonade. A strong woman looks a challenge in the eye and gives it a wink. Edit! Edit! Edit! Be brave enough to heal yourself even when it hurts.
Waiting was one of the toughest and the most dreaded moments of my life before I agreed to do my adulting life. I do not like waiting on planes, people, things, or food. Waiting for me was like taking all the unknown things in my life and putting them all into a teapot on a high flame.
Then God …
We all face moments where our patience wears thin – either with others, with ourselves, or to be honest, with God’s plan. A lack of patience can cause us to react out of desperation thereby missing unforeseen new opportunities. Being patient is a vital part of dependency on God as life sometimes hands us lemons after lemons better known as unpleasant situations.
It’s easy to become anxious about any and everything that disturbs our mind. We unintentionally slip into fear and hopelessness as the situation looks grimmer by the second triggering us to want to react out of despair. Waiting on God to intervene isn’t always easy when from our perspective the stakes look high.
Despite our personal views on God’s timing He never agrees to us responding out of fear. When we look to God for guidance, He coaches us during the waiting period. Our faith develops as we are forced to wait and trust God. We are no longer children throwing tantrums when we can’t get the candy in the candy shop.
Wait on God’s timing. The children of Israel took 40 years to get to the Promised Land walking around and around complaining about everything and everyone on a road trip that some says should have only taken two weeks. God maybe silent, but He is never absent.
Psalm 37:7 “Rest in the Lord and wait patiently for Him; Do not fret because of him who prospers in his way, because of the man who carries out wicked schemes.”
Fight back fear believing with every fibre in your body that your current situation is not your final destination. This too will pass. It may pass like a kidney stone, but it will pass. With Christ we are never without hope. A strong woman looks a challenge in the eye and gives it a wink. Be brave enough to heal yourself even when it hurts.
PRAYER TIME: Father, thank you that our current situation is not our final destination. We will not act of despair, but we will trust YOUR method. Thank you for hearing our prayer as we wait on You. In Jesus Name, Amen
