TUESDAY 3rd WEEK NOVEMBER GROWN UP CONVERSATIONS

Don’t feed the Monkeys

An overactive mind is like being the ringmaster in a circus. The ringmaster introduces the different acts in a circus show and the juggling of thoughts is one of the most common performances in the circus. Yes, it’s our circus and our monkeys. Their names are Doubt, Worry, Guilt, Shame, and Overthinking. These are just a few of the best trained monkeys that perform at every show.

An overactive brain is a scattered brain, and it gets pretty tricky like untrained monkeys when they steal our hat (thoughts), shoes (future), food (health), and camera (focus). Fortunately, you’re the ringmaster so every monkey (thought) can be trained.

The inner voice that constantly analyzes everything about your life, circumstances, and the people you interact with – must be pulled down making them obedient to the voice of Jesus Christ.

Quit trying to reason things out when your brain is acting unreasonable.

God always presents a PLOT TWIST at every show:

Isaiah 35:4-7 says, Tell fearful souls, “Courage! Take heart! God is here, right here, on his way to put things right and redress all wrongs. He’s on his way! He’ll save you!”

Isaiah 46:4 says, “And I’ll keep on carrying you when you’re old. I’ll be there, bearing you when you’re old and gray. I’ve done it and will keep on doing it, carrying you on my back, saving you.”

Matthew 6:26: “Look at the birds of the air; they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they?” And one of them shall not fall on the ground without your Father. But the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear ye not therefore, ye are of more value than many sparrows.”

Why should we feel anxious when the monkeys start jumping and flipping in our mind? Are you not more valuable to God than those doubts, fear, guilt, shame that bombards our every thought? Know that Jesus is your portion for every thought that disturbs your peace.

A prayer a day keeps the monkeys away. God is a constant Friend. His eye is on the sparrow, and I know He watches over you and me. Sing your fears away. Pray those monkeys away.

One prayer will send a thousand of untrained monkey thoughts away.

God never intended for us to do life alone. “Let not your heart be troubled,” One day at a time that’s all God requires of us to live. Tomorrow has its own troubles. Stop feeding the monkeys.

God is fully capable of doing a far better job than any investigation. Stop sighing and allow hope to fill your heart. Let us draw  closer to God and begin to breathe again.

PRAYER TIME: Lord, thank you that my life is in your hand. I will not panic and rush into overthinking. Teach me to stand in confidence knowing that you will  take care of all that concerns me.  In Jesus Name, Amen
