Tuesday Grown Up Conversations

Grown Up Conversations

Spoiler Alert

Many times, we begin to doubt God when we are up against a struggle that completely shatters all our dreams. It seems like it has been forever since you have been praying about that situation and yet nothing has changed over the years. It actually looks like things are getting worse instead of better. All the hope we ever had have been mercilessly crushed like a dump truck riding over a child’s favourite toy.

At this point the pain becomes unbearable and faith in God is fading quickly .

The urge becomes greater for us to give in to fear as the reality looks dimmer by the second. Genesis 22:9-13 reminds us that the Lord is close to the broken-hearted and comes to our rescue just in the nick of time. When God asked Abraham to sacrifice his promised child as reluctant as Abraham may have been in his heart, he pushed past his tears and fear and obeyed God.

How can God promise Abraham a child then to ask him to give him back?

But the scripture went on to say – “Then Abraham reached out his hand and took the knife to slay his son. But the angel of the Lord called out to him from heaven, “Abraham! Abraham!”

“Don’t lay a hand on the boy. Now I know that you fear God, because you have not withheld from me your son, your only son.”

Can God trust us to follow His instructions even when it’s painful and human reasoning tells us this just doesn’t make sense? What’s your test? What is God asking you to do? Is He asking you to trust Him with your child? How painful it is to leave your only child or anything close and dear to your heart at the altar? What is God asking for in exchange of what you are holding on to?

Nothing is more precious than to hear God say “Now I know that you fear Me, because you have not withheld from Me your child, your only child.”

AHA MOMENT: Don’t let the faith you’re standing disappear. Trust God and sing your way through the human reasoning. Our God respects and give us credit when we simply follow His instructions. Don’t let fear make you feel like you’re losing something valuable in your walk with God. Satan is not your friend he is a liar and a traitor, and he will bring doubt and confusion to you by asking you – “Did God really say that?”

God says to us to trust Him and He will show us great things where we will be glad. God is enough and He gives us the grace to press on and hold on to Him regardless of what we may face today, tomorrow, or in the years to come. He is still God regardless of the season we maybe in.

PRAYER TIME: Father, no matter whatever maybe going on in our lives, we will not become anxious, worried, or afraid. You are always in control and nothing takes you by surprise. We will trust you regardless of the circumstances. In Jesus Name, Amen
