February 23 GROWN UP CONVERSATIONS

Today’s Topic: Trust the Engineer

There will never be a night that was so dark that will prevent the sun from rising. No matter how difficult the nights may be God’s presence brings hope that this too will pass. Morning will come. Change is coming. It takes a whole lot of patience and faith in God to trust the nighttime episodes but one day we will look back and say, ‘Mission accomplished.’

Corrie Ten Boom says, “When a train goes through a tunnel and it gets dark, you don’t throw away the ticket and jump off. You sit still and trust the engineer.”

Satan knows what triggers anxiety in us, and at the slightest trigger of fear it’s natural to become unstable in our thoughts. But if you don’t stand firm for what you believe, you will become restless, confused and unstable in your thinking. Train your mind to be single-minded in the all-knowing God who controls the entire universe.

Don’t dig up doubt what you have planted in faith. It becomes difficult to see miracles if you allow what you see and know to create doubt and fear. God is looking for consistency.

The poem ‘Footprints in the Sand’ was written by Margaret Fishback Power.

One night I dreamed a dream. As I was walking along the beach with my Lord. Across the dark sky flashed scenes from my life. For each scene, I noticed two sets of footprints in the sand, one belonging to me and one to my Lord.

After the last scene of my life flashed before me, I looked back at the footprints in the sand. I noticed that at many times along the path of my life, especially at the very lowest and saddest times, there was only one set of footprints.

This really troubled me, so I asked the Lord about it.

“Lord, you said once I decided to follow you, You’d walk with me all the way. But I noticed that during the saddest and most troublesome times of my life, there was only one set of footprints. I don’t understand why, when I needed You the most, You would leave me.”

He whispered, “My precious child, I love you and will never leave you. Never, ever, during your trials and testings. When you saw only one set of footprints, it was then that I carried you.”

The End

The Lord your God goes everywhere with you. He will never leave you nor abandon you. He never panics and runaway during the darkest and most disturbing times of your life. When you have lived through a night that was so dark and woke up to see the hand of God the next day – your faith in God grows. All the money a person makes can never buy peace in the darkest hour of life.

Even the darkest night will end, and the sun will rise again. If God is for you, who can be against you? The LORD will fight for you, you need only to be still.

Prayer Time: Father, thank you for carrying us many times through the darkest nights. Thank you for your strength when ours was depleted. Thank you for opening our eyes to see the sunrise giving us hope that today will be a better day. In Jesus Name, Amen
