SEPTEMBER 22 HEART TO HEART GROWN UP CONVERSATIONS

Today’s Topic: It’s Only a Bad Day NOT a Bad Life.

I remembered in 2002 I faced my biggest fear when one of my daughters had a major scoliosis
spinal surgery. What was supposed to be a four hour surgery turned into a nine hour surgery making the waiting time unbearable and taunting to say the least.

As my daughter was hastily rushed into ICU, my Faith level fell to zero as I told God that certainly He missed out on an opportunity for me to brag about His healing powers.

For months before I prayed, fasted, and believed with every fibre in my body that God would heal her without her having to endure the before and after effects of a major spinal surgery at 15 years old.

April 15, 2002 will forever be in my memories. My faith was terribly shaken. I remembered telling my family that I don’t want anything to read about God, prayers, or anything about faith.

My faith level was at a critically low point. Late in the midnight hour we left ICU anticipating to get a quick nap to go back the next day.

What took place during my short sleep confirmed to me I was having a bad day but definitely not a bad life. In my sleep the words of Romans 8:35, 37-39 woke me up.

“Can anything separate us from the love of Christ? Can trouble, suffering, and hard times, or hunger and nakedness, or danger and death? In everything we have won more than a victory because of Christ who loves us. I am sure that nothing can separate us from God’s love—not life or death, not angels or spirits, not the present or the future, and not powers above or powers below. Nothing in all creation can separate us from God’s love for us in Christ Jesus our Lord!”

I woke my husband up and told him we are going back to the hospital. This time, I was armed and dangerous. No devil was going to intimidate me or turn me into an unbeliever.

To make a very, very long story short – my daughter’s Jewish physician named her “My shining star.”

Friends, be not dismayed whatever it may be, God will take care of you.

Can anything separate you from the love of Christ? Can trouble, suffering, and hard times, or hunger and nakedness, or danger and death?

Be encouraged: In everything you have won more than a victory because of Christ who loves you.

I am praying that nothing will separate you from God’s love—not life or death, not angels or spirits, not the present or the future, and not powers above or powers below.

Nothing in all creation can separate me from God’s love. Lean weary one upon His chest – God will take care of you.

It’s Prayer Time: Father, : we cannot escape from your Spirit! We can never get away from your presence. In Jesus Name, Amen.
