Today’s Topic: Who is holding you up?
Quote: “What if I fall? Oh, but darling, what if you fly?” This quote sounds like a conversation between God and me. I have asked God questions like this so many times in my life, and when I look back at those times, I have seen how only God could have carried me on His wings from there to here.
I have learned a lot about God when I felt like I was falling.
Wings remind me of freedom. Insects, birds, bats, and airplanes have wings. They fly to and fro all over the world. Caterpillar has no wings, but it flies when it grows into an Adult Butterfly.
Humans can’t grow wings; we only grow arms and legs. So, who is holding you up when your arms and legs go weary?
When you don’t feel strong you become vulnerable, and anyone can tell you anything and you will fall for it.
As God’s children, we need a safe shelter when our fear for flying above the chaos becomes a reality.
Satan many times put us in harm’s way. We often get burnt out and our weary minds lead us into the ‘what-ifs.’ Our anxious thoughts becomes our breaking point.
Can I reassure you about our safe hiding place?
Psalm 32:7 “You are a hiding place for me; you preserve me from trouble; you surround me with shouts of deliverance.”
I have watched how a hen protects her chicks. There they are in the yard digging in the ground without a care in the world. She sometimes makes a clucking noise and the little chicks huddle closer to her. Then, a dog gets close, and the hen makes a loud noise and open her wings and the little chicks run towards her.
Like the hen gathers her chicks to protect them from harm, the Lord’s wings provide protection and security during stormy seasons and Satan’s harmful intentions.
What a beautiful sight to always keep in mind when fear grips your heart. You may ask God, “What if I fall? And God will always respond, “Oh, but darling, what if you fly.”
God wants to gather us under His wings—if we are willing. We live in a cold-hearted world where the trust level is below zero.
We go through life and when things get really bad, we want our Mommy. Maybe Mommy is no longer with you, and you miss her greatly. Or maybe Mom is never around or just doesn’t seem to care.
I want to remind you that Jesus is always present and close to your side. He cares more than you can imagine. He wants you to get close to Him where He can shelter you when you are scared or hurting.
God is your refuge. Trust Him to keep you safe and to rescue you from unforeseen situations. You are perfectly safe under His wings.
He orders His angels to guard you wherever you go. If you stumble, they’ll catch you. Their job is to keep you from falling. Isaiah 40:31 – “But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.”
PRAYER TIME: Father, thank you that you are a good, good Father. You keep us safe under your wings at all times. Our confidence is in knowing that your watchful eyes are on us. In Jesus Name, Amen.
