Today’s Topic: An Adult Conversation
Try thinking about the relationships in your life like a bank account. A bank account is a place to keep your money, and you manage that account by making deposits and withdrawals. If you attempt to withdraw more money from your account than you have in the bank, that’s a problem.
A healthy relationship shows up in words of affirmation, encouragement, acts of service, giving someone a gift, and spending time with someone more commonly known as the ‘Five Love Languages.’
Take a step back and see whether you are making more deposits or withdrawals. If you allow people to make more withdrawals than deposits in your life, you will be out of balance and very angry.
Know when to deposit and if to close the account.
You don’t need to fight or be insulting. Just be honest. Be firm. Be respectful. People will begin to respect you when they observe the change in your behavior.
It can be emotionally draining to deal with people who are insincere and deceitful but don’t let your happiness depend on anything outside of your comfort zone.
Psalm 90:12 says, “So teach us to number our days that we may get a heart of wisdom.”
When you have a negative thought make peace with your past. Our days are numbered. See all experiences as lessons towards your growth.
Stop engaging in things that are not working. No need to change people. Love them from where they are. You cannot control your thoughts, but you can control your choices.
God warns us in the Bible about the shortness of life. We should set our priorities based on what is truly important. This season of your life can truly be the best.
It would have been a complete waste of your life on earth letting everyone use you but God. In life people come and people go but only God remains the same.
If you put more effort into loving God than you put into maintaining a human relationship, you will find happiness while living an abundant life.
No one can count the number of days they have to live. The number of our days, months, and years, is with the Lord but is hid from us. Our lives belong to God. Our families belong to God. Our possessions belong to God. Everything is His.
Quote: “God loves you more in a moment than anyone could love you in a lifetime.”
God can do a lot with the little of our life remaining on earth. If you don’t believe me, just ask the boy with the five loaves and two fish who gave everything he had to Jesus.
It didn’t seem like a lot, but Jesus used them to feed a hungry multitude. Jesus can take the rest of your days, bless it and multiply it. He can use it beyond our wildest dreams.
PRAYER TIME: Father, we may not have as much time as we think. Help us to focus on what is important and to be used by you to bring others out of their daunting past. In Jesus Name, Amen.
