OCTOBER 4 HEART TO HEART GROWN UP CONVERSATIONS

Today’s Topic: Everyone Is Not On The Same Journey

Quote: “Don’t judge someone by the chapter you walked in on.”

“You are late today!” was a remark someone in my neighborhood said to me on one of my early morning walks. I couldn’t help but smile and with great confidence nodded my head in acknowledgement, as I kept on walking.

What this very lovely person did not know was that I was already into 30 minutes of my walk, but I took a different route before I came back on to my familiar route.

This person assumed that I was off my schedule. Don’t judge someone by the chapter you walked in on. Never let someone’s lack of full disclosure make you respond out of character.

Sometimes, all it takes is a smile and a simple acknowledgment that you heard them, and move right along.

Of course, I felt so good to know that I had already completed 30 minutes while they assumed I only just got started.

We simply don’t take into consideration that sometimes God isolates us because our paths are different.

You can’t do the same thing like everyone while expecting God to order your steps. Great things happen in seasons of isolation. I discovered a new route that challenged my endurance.

The little pride in me wanted to let them know that I changed my route up a bit while my introvert self did not allow me to explain myself away.

I walked on smiling to myself as I thought about what a beautiful blog this will be. I adjusted my tunnel vision mask without seeking to give an explanation.

You are the author, the editor, the lead character, and you are the story. When you stand before God at the end of your journey, I hope you will be proud of your very difficult choices.

Another one of my favourites quotes: “I am in no competition with no one. I have no desire to play the game of being better than anyone. I am simply trying to be better than the person I was yesterday.”

Be your own person. Life is too short to let anyone determine your destiny. What you see in others is usually only one chapter of their story. So become more curious to learn a little more about each other.

I am a firm believer in God having a plan for everyone. The path you are on today is all part of your destiny. With all the twists and turns and what looks like a delay.

Things happen, things happen, things happen, and things will always happen. Many times, it looks like completely opposite to what you were praying or hoping for but don’t lose heart. Two to three years down the road you will look back and be glad that you didn’t give up.

I am closing with James 1:2-8 “My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience. But let patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing. If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him. But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind. For let not that man suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord; he is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways.”

Prayer Time: Father, we ask in faith that we will not be quitters. Help our thoughts not be like the waves of the seas driven and toss by the opinions of others. Teach us to be stable in whatever we purpose to do. In Jesus Name, Amen

Remember:
God cannot be your source of strength if your limits are set by others.
