OCTOBER 6 HEART TO HEART GROWN UP CONVERSATIONS

Topic: Don’t Go Down the Rabbit Hole

Quote: “Do the thing you fear to do and keep on doing it. That is the quickest and surest way ever yet discovered to conquer fear.”

Fear doesn’t need a formal invitation to participate in any of your mental or social discussions. All it takes to become unstable is to feel threatened by bad news, or hear a rumor, or to receive a disturbing call for fear to show up.

Fear is the worse robber of peace. If your mind is held a prisoner to your thoughts – game over.

You’re sleeping and you suddenly wake up from an unusual noise coming from inside your home. Your mind immediately jumps to the worst-case scenario, assuming that someone has entered your home or is trying to break in.

Whatever you see, hear, or even imagine suddenly becomes your new reality. When you stumble into the unknown, you believe that the worst is about to happen. It takes seconds for anyone to move and setup house in an unreal world of fear.

Sometimes, as parents watching the varied stages of our children, we tend to focus on the parts of life that are most painful. The mental and emotional toll is great.

For me, the worry is the hardest part to shake. We just want to do this thing right. We want our children to live the very best life they can. So, we scramble to avoid a catastrophe from happening believing we can control the outcome.

The devil knows when we are giving in to fear. He floods the mind with unimaginable thoughts just as you are trying to sleep. What you think of will either bring your mind back to reality or send you spiralling down a rabbit’s hole.

Stop and think about this verse: “Weeping many endure for a night, but joy comes in the morning.”
God’s Word always brings hope into every situation. The hope of getting up to a new day is as real as you choose to believe in new beginnings.

Even though our circumstance is still as it was the day before there’s joy in having a different mindset based on God’s Word. Recalling the Word of God stops Satan in his trap.

You are not alone when fear knocks at your door. Satan walks back and forth looking for someone to intimidate.

Stop the wheels of worry and turn up the volume of faith and hope that are rooted and established in God’s Word. It may be all dark now, but it will soon be morning. It may be frightful now, but it will soon be all peaceful.

James 5:16-28 says, “The prayer of a person living right with God is something powerful to be compared with. Elijah, for instance, human just like us, prayed hard that it wouldn’t rain, and it didn’t—not a drop for three and a half years. Then he prayed that it would rain, and it did. The showers came and everything started growing again.”

Prayer Time: Father, thank you for splitting the sea of fear so we could walk right through it till all our fears are drowned. Thank you for rescuing us so we can tell the world that we are children of the only true and living God. In Jesus Name, Amen.

REMEMBER: Fear is the worse robber of peace. If your mind is held a prisoner to your thoughts – game over. You are not alone when fear knocks at your door. Satan walks back and forth looking for someone to intimidate. Stop the wheels of worry and turn up the volume of faith and hope that are rooted and established in God’s Word. It may be all dark now, but it will soon be morning. It may be frightful now, but it will soon be calm.
