MAMA: It’s Okay to Rest

Regardless of what life throws our way, there must be a Bible verse that can speak to how we’re feeling, what we’re experiencing, and can guide us towards having a more positive mindset.

We can’t stop the birds from flying over our heads, but we can absolutely stop them from building a nest. Anxious thoughts help no one. Isaiah 40:31 “But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength; they will fly with wings like eagles; they will run and not be tired; they will walk and not faint.”

A trouble free mind doesn’t mean that everything is good, it simply means that you choose to trust God whenever you become overwhelmed. Peace of mind comes when you become selective with the things that takes up space in your memory bank.

Dr. Krissy Doyle-Thomas talks a lot on Serotonin. Serotonin is our happy hormone. Matthew 6:27 “Who among you by worrying can add a single moment to your life?” So what are our options?

Listen to music, walk by a lake, write or journal, get some sunshine, laugh, and smile with everyone that crosses paths with you. These activities will produce serotonin your happy hormone.

Hebrews 13:6 “This is why we can confidently say, ‘The Lord is my helper, and I won’t be afraid. What can people do to me?”

Being a Mom is a full time job with low wages, but give yourself some credit. You weren’t a doctor but you healed many wounds. You weren’t a singer but you soothe many tears away. You weren’t in the army but you fought many battles.

Stop sitting on the floor without planning how you will get back up. Your wings are ready to take into a whole new world where your experiences will meet opportunities.

Proverbs 12:25 “Anxiety leads to depression, but a good word encourages.” When you’re experiencing a tough time, it can be hard to see beyond that. But try to focus on the positive things and learn to rest.

Prayer Time: Father, you have given us 365 “Fear not” in the Bible. They are our one a day reminder. Thank you that you are always in control of our daily happenings. We will not be fearful. Our heart will trust in you. In Jesus Name, Amen

If anyone tries to break into your quiet place, I pray they trip over your children’s shoes and toys and flee.
