‘Don’t Drink the Kool-Aid’
People are scared, not sure what tomorrow holds. Don’t know how they are going to make it through the present crisis …. but yet we say, ‘I am okay.’
Fear is always lurking around us, and it makes us hide behind the mask. When Adam and Eve ate the fruit, it was fear that made them hide. We deal with fear in our own way which usually makes us tired, angry, and many times acting out of character.
Saying ‘I am okay’ is the Kool-Aid of our emotions. It’s NOT that we are really ‘okay’, but we often deal with fear in the least complicated way “I am okay.”
BUT take note – It’s BAD, very BAD like Kool-Aid for our health.
Don’t drink the Kool-Aid ‘I am okay.’
We all know for a fact that there are countless unhappy rich celebrities. There are unhappy birthday celebration. There are unhappy executive families. There are unhappy married couples. There are unhappy homes with children.
If we are waiting for life to be problem free, we can be waiting for a very long, long time, like forever.
Fear is cruel and it’s rooted in our selfish desires to have more materialistic things which brings no lasting satisfaction. Making idols of people – spouses, children, family and friends, etc.
We even arrogantly attempt to control the outcome of every challenge.
The secret to finding lasting peace in any situation is KNOWING GOD.
Do I have anxious thoughts? Yes!!!
Do I sometimes feel unhappy? Yes!!!
Do I cry? Yes!!!
But I turn my worries into prayers, letting God know ALL my anxieties. And before I know it, ALL my fears, worries, tears, and anxiety settles down. They are there still, but they settle down.
It’s wonderful what happens when Christ displaces worry at the center of your life.
Prayer Time: Father, we are not okay. When our hearts are overwhelmed please guide our thoughts back to you. In Jesus Name, Amen.
John 16:33 Jesus said, “I’ve told you all this so that trusting me, you will be unshakable and assured, deeply at peace.
In this godless world you will continue to experience difficulties. But take heart! I’ve conquered the world.”
Don’t drink the Kool-Aid ‘I am okay’ when you are not. Jesus Christ can displace worry from being the CENTER of your life. He specializes in turning pain into power.
“Casting ALL your cares upon HIM, for HE cares for you”. Thank you for the reminder!
