Faith Under Pressure
Life many times shakes all of us to the core. We’ve been surrounded and battered by troubles, and many times we’re not sure what to do. We face the nightmares of losing loved ones, losing our jobs, marriages are hanging on by a thread, and literally a host of doom and gloom events. Many times, our lives feel like trusting a ‘stranger’ at midnight in an unknown city to take us safely to grandma’s home.
As much as we would love to hide our fear and uncertainty the reality is, they just cannot be hidden. We cannot bluff our way through life. When we lose courage, it leaves unpleasant memories lingering in our mind never knowing when it will all come to an end.
What do you do when you don’t know what to do? What do you say when there’s nothing to say? The truth is you can’t live with uncertainty it is emotionally draining. Everything on earth is temporary with many moving parts. We will never fully understand the process, but we simply have to trust the wisdom of God.
We have an anchor that keeps the soul. Steadfast and sure while the billows roll. Fastened to the Rock which cannot move. Grounded firm and deep in the Savior’s love. Will your anchor hold in the storms of life? God never disappoints anyone who places their trust in Him. Whenever life is interrupted by unforeseen circumstances, the anchor is activated, and we cannot move.
Many of us are either going through, coming out of a difficult situation or walking into the eye of a storm but when under pressure our faith is fastened to the Rock Christ Jesus.
James 1: 2-4 says, “Consider it a sheer gift, friends, when tests and challenges come at you from all sides. You know that under pressure, your faith-life is forced into the open and shows its true colors. So don’t try to get out of anything prematurely. Let it do its work, so you become mature and well-developed, not deficient in any way.”
It takes tests and challenges to push us into another level of faith maturity. No one can get full blown faith without the challenges of life. Faith in God cannot grow any other way. Stop asking God why and begin thanking Him for the tests as it is impossible to please God without faith. Jesus said that in this world we will have trouble. But take heart!
Noah built a ship in the middle of dry land. He was warned about something he couldn’t see and acted on what he was told. The result? His family was saved. When you learn to rely on God above everything else, He will sustain and keep you in all circumstances. Your cry brings you right into God’s presence where angels will attend to your cry.
PRAYER TIME: Father, thank you for the opportunities you have given to us to increase our faith. When we are under pressure let our faith prove that we are anchored to the Solid Rock of Christ. In Jesus Name, Amen
Faith under pressure increases our intimacy with the Heavenly Father. The true you surface when you are under pressure. Trust God even if no one else will.
